For CW’s new show The Originals, the recurring role of Josh is being cast.

According to a casting call, the CW is looking for a male in his early 20s to fill the role.

Josh is described as a “hot and naive but curious gay tourist partying with friends in New Orleans.” But like most people who cross paths with the supernatural world of “The Vampire Diaries,” Josh ends up in “the wrong part of the French Quarter” — and unfortunately his trip has “dire consequences.

The CW has ordered up their first new series of the 2013-2014 season. The “Vampire Diaries” spin-off called “The Originals” is set to take center stage on the cable network in the fall, according to E News on April 26.

The pilot aired on Thursday with the announcement made the following day that the new vampire series was confirmed to be in their new fall lineup. The CW also announced that “Beauty and the Beast” was picked up for a second season and “Hart of Dixie” for its third season.

“The Originals” revolves around the siblings of Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah who are considered the original vampires. In the backdoor pilot, they head to New Orleans where they find that Hayley is having Klaus’ baby. Fans will now have to wait for a few months to find out what happens next.

“As soon as we saw last night’s episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ we knew we wanted more of ‘The Originals.’ Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for ‘The Originals,’” The CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement.

Charles Michael DavisCharles Michael Davis (The Game) is set to co-star opposite The Vampire Diaries‘ Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin in the potential spinoff The Originals, which will be introduced in the April 25 episode of the CW drama. Written by TVD co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Davis). Wicked, wild and charismatic, Marcel is a former kicked-around street rat who now calls the shots in the supernatural playground of New Orleans. As a modern-day vampire, he’s fierce and bold, able to accomplish as much with his charm as he is with his strength. Elijah (Gillies), intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line. Like Morgan and Gillies, Tonkin also is reprising her role from TVD. Davis joins fellow Daniella Pineda, who also has been cast in Originals as a regular. Davis, repped by Peter Strain & Associates and Mary Erickson, is filming a recurring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and also recurred on ABC Family’s Switched At Birth.

Rebekah-Claire-HoltThe Original family of vampires will remain intact in their leap from The Vampire Diaries to their own series, planted spinoff The Originals. Claire Holt has been cast as a lead in Originals, which will be introduced in the April 25 episode of the CW drama. She will reprise her recurring TVD role as Rebekah, the vampire sister of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies). The trio represents all surviving Original siblings as their two other brothers recently faced their demise on TVD. Holt had been rumored to join The Originals from the get-go, but I’d heard talks hit a snag and TVD‘s Phoebe Tonkin was signed for the potential spinoff instead. Now Holt, who just signed with CAA, becomes the fourth cast member of the original series to transition to the spinoff.

Danielle CampbellDanielle Campbell (Prison Break) is the latest new regular cast in the potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, which will be introduced in the April 25 episode of the CW drama. Written by TVD co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Campbell, repped by CESD and Evolution, will play Davina, a young witch who has been over-sheltered by her protective caregivers.

Daniella PinedaDaniella Pineda (Fitzgerald Family Christmas) has landed a regular role in the potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, which will be introduced as an upcoming episode of TVD that airs April 25. The Originals stars TVD’s Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin reprising their roles. Written by TVD co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel. Pineda will play Sophie, a witch whose magic has been silenced but not snuffed. A leader and a sexy, sharp-tongued social force, she is quietly sowing the seeds of a revolution amongst her peers.

Another Vampire Diaries standout is headed to the potential spinoff series. Daniel Gillies is set to star opposite Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin in The Originals, which will be introduced as an upcoming episode of Vampire Diaries that will air April 25, serving as a potential backdoor pilot. All three are reprising their roles from the original series as the spinoff is keeping the three-lead — two vampire brothers and a girl — formula of Vampire Diaries. The only difference is that the female lead, Hayley (Tonkin), is not an ordinary teenager like Vampire Diaries‘ Elena but a werewolf. In addition to his recurring role on Vampire Diaries, which he has played since Season 2, Canadian-born Gillies also stars on the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope. If The Originals goes to series, he will do both shows.

Gillies is repped by APA and KLWG Entertainment.
